First clean sheet of the season

29 Oct 11 - League

Home vs Aston Village FC 2nds

2-0

A very scrappy game with both sides battling with the wind as much as each other. Balally played the first half up hill and against the wind. We put everything we had into defending and keeping Aston Village at bay. They were playing good football with some nice neat triangles and their movement caused us problems. However, they never really threatened Marty's goal. The closest they came to opening the scoring was from a mixup between Mick and Marty. Mick headed a long ball backwards to Marty and wicked bounce nearly caught Marty off guard. He was able to get a hand to it and gathered it up. Once we settled we hit them on the break and created a couple of chances but it finished 0-0 at the break.

Balally played much better in the second half and kept putting pressure on Aston Village's back four. The goals came from two long balls with both assists going to Marty. The first was a flick on by Paddy over the on rushing keeper and the second was a tidy lob by Dave again catching the keeper off his line.

Aston Village did create a few openings but between saves from Marty, last ditch tackles and a bit of help from the crossbar it finished 2-0.

Great work rate from everyone. Good result, first cleansheet of the season and third win in a row. Well done lads keep up the good work.
