Another 2-2 draw and 2 more points dropped. A game we really should have won but couldn't kill it off and Stedfast got the rewards for the pressure with a late equaliser.
We got our league form back on track with a "reasonably" comfortable 2-0 win over Sandford Athletic. The pitch was particularly bobbly after 9 out of 10 home games in the past 3 months. Despite this, Balally dominated the early exchanges playing some great football.
Give me rain any day over the wind!! This game was played in horribly windy conditions but both teams did their level best to play football. It wasn't an exciting first half as we defended and tried to break on the counter. This proved difficult against the wind and about 15 mins in glenmalure scored.
A few rusty legs after the Christmas break led to an extremely scrappy game. Clontarf took the lead around the 15-20 minute mark through a suspect penalty but nonetheless it was a nicely taken pen. Balally had a free saved and should have scored with one header, a good goal line clearance.
Originally scheduled as an away match, Lazio's pitch was unplayable so this game was switched to the Hill. In our earlier meeting with Lazio we were played off the park and we were determined to put up a better performance this time.
A horrible game which we deserved nothing out of and got exactly what we deserved. We had a lot of chances early on but wasted them all. St. Mary's got a hold of the game after taking the first chance they created. A sloppy goal to concede and that gave the away team the confidence to take control of the game.
Round one of the MMI Cup and the opposition was league 1 rivals Shielton Athletic. The pitch was is good condition and the game started with a fairly end to end to contest. The ref decided to spice things up by giving a seriously fortunate penalty decision!!! Definitely a case of ball to hand and with his hand by his side, Paddy could not be blamed for this one.
A very scrappy game with both sides battling with the wind as much as each other. Balally played the first half up hill and against the wind. We put everything we had into defending and keeping Aston Village at bay. They were playing good football with some nice neat triangles and their movement caused us problems. However, they never really threatened Marty's goal.
